Brandon's Run We are happy to report that for the 4th Annual Brandon's Run, we raised over $5,000 which will be donated to the Advanced Fetal Care Center and the newly founded EA Treatment Program at Children's Hospital Boston.
Our theme for the 4th Annual Brandon's Run was "Celebrate Life's Little Miracles" and was inspired by some truly amazing EA/TEF families that we met in the past year and a half. For us it was truly amazing to be connected with such families as, Brandon, as well as ourselves had never met any other family and/or infant who was born with EA/TEF. These families inspired us to forge ahead and gave us new found energy in knowing we could make a difference in so many lives.
In meeting these families, it also inspired us to work with other EA families to establish "Bridging the GAP of EA/TEF: A Family to Family Support and Resrouce Network". Our goal, to match newly diagnosed families with current EA families in their state to help understand their infants diagnosis, help research resources that their infant may need and be there for emotional support.
We would like to send a speical thank you to those EA families for all their support, help with Brandon's Run, and for sharing their personal stories on our website.
We will also be working on a seperate page to thank all the vendors and organizations who truly made Brandon's Run possible!
What is EA/TEF?: This is a great link from Children's Hospital Boston which explains what EA/TEF is and what it means for an infant. About one in 3000 to 5000 babies in the United States is born with one or both of these problems. Up to one-half of all babies with TE fistula or esophageal atresia have another birth defect.
